For the past year or so I have been wanting to get a new/bigger car since my wife and I have a had a baby. I have always been a German car owner but this time I decided to defect to the Japanese. I wound up trading my '06 MB C230 for this '08 Infiniti G35 Journey w/18k miles. Anyway, I only have after shots but when I received it the paint looked as if they wash their cars with a long handle brush. The paint had scratches that appeared to be from back and forth motions. I am going to get the front bumper painted since it has chips all over as well as the chrome grill and the back bumper had some bad paint repair from those guys that go around to dealers to repair and finish scratches. I didn't notice the rear bumper when I bought it since it was raining but when I took it home and did a full correction I noticed bad sand marks and bad blending. The rest of the car looks great though. Oh, and Carlos, I think I need to change my username now.
Boy do I hate that front license plate bracket on the front!!

Congrats on the new vehicle, I like how the front of these vehicles look. The interior is not bad either, I'm surprised you'd give up the Merc though. So far the vehicles I'm considering are the E63AMG and the Audi RS6 oh and recently the Bentley Continental GT has caught my eyes, best part the price is definitely right on them. My next purchase wont be new, I don't think I would ever purchase a new vehicle again, I'll let someone else take the big hit, I'll be more then happy to pick up a year or two year old vehicle.

Any who, congrats on the vehicle, look good :thumb:

Buddy! You rock!! Make sure you measure the paint on that thing before you polish, Hum-whatever it is now, I've worked on two new Infinitis with paint readings around 60 microns on the roof and hood.

LOL, I think I'm going to go with a more universal username. The color is kinda cool.....it's like silvery beige.

I hated to give the Merc up but I needed more space as well as a change. Plus, I got sick of my boss calling my car an old lady car. If I were to get anything else again German wise though it would be an Audi. I absolutely love Audi's. I used to own a A6 as well as a couple A4's and they were by far my fav. vehicles. If I were you I would go for the RS6.

Now I wish I would've borrowed the paint meter from work. i'm too cheap to buy my own.

Congrats! I have a 2008 G35X in platinum graphite. The car is great you'll love it. Just don't pay attention to the MPG's.

Congrats on the new car! The chrome grilles turning milky white is a known issue.

You didn't want to look at a used E350? They look so good with the sport package...

My neighbor, of course an old lady, has one and the styling doesn't appeal to me for some reason. I can't pin point it.

I'm going to try and find an aftermarket grill that doesn't look Gotti. First thing up though is tint since I live in the hot south and the bumpers. We have a body shop at my work so I'll see what they can do with them. The front one will have to get a full repaint to make me happy.

How do you like it so far compared to the Mercedes?

I love G's, I'm gonna be picking up a first gen coupe this summer.

Not really, more so the grill chipping is a known issue.

Congrats though! Love to see more Gs on here.

Thats a hard comparison, it's like comparing a 5 series to a 3 series. The G will obviously be quicker, lighter, and handle better. The GS will probably be more luxurious, and comfier of a ride. I'm biased but honestly I think the G is one of the best in it's class. It's a classy car, sporty, quick, and very luxurious at the same time. What more can you ask for? Plus, the lexus doesn't provide you with an exhaust note any VQ engine will:worship2:

I like it. It has a very similar feel to my Benz C230 Sport. It definitely doesn't have that typical Japanese "floaty" ride.

Thanx! Do you know if the dealers are doing anything for that chipping issue?

I will never buy a dark car again. I used to have a dark blue A6 and when I moved here it looked like it went through a sand blaster.

I like it alot. My wife and I took a long ride yesterday evening and we both thought it was a really nice car. It's quick as shiz!! No comparison to the Lexus. Totally different vehicle. Lexus has too floaty of a ride for me. As I mentioned, the G feels like a German car.
