So i found out about a week ago that i have a hernia....it was irritating me and the doc suggested i get it done now before it gets worse...so i did...i wanted to be able to work this season without the fear of making it worse....

got to the center at 9:30am and i have been home for about an hour or two now...Nursing the pain....hurts a bit and just plain feels weird.....i wanted to lay on the couch but the living room of my house (multi level split) is on the bottom level and the baths are on the upper two so i would have to climb 2 sets of stairs to go and stairs are not fun...so i am confined to my bed....luckily i have a nice TV/Surround sound up here too as well as a laptop to keep me busy....i cant wait til this is all better....

Good luck ghost!!! Dont even think about lifting anything right now. Just take it easy and have some thing to keep you occupied. Listen to your doctors instructions. Be careful with pain meds. They may help with the pain but if you take it too much it can get you constipated. This is no joke either, especially with hernia surgery. Good luck man!

I had one and I walked around with it for a YEAR before the doctor said I was dumb as fekkk and that I needed an operation STAT. Most painful thing in the WORLD!!!

yeah the docs told me about that....they gave me Perkacet....they said take plenty of fiber and maybe some colace to combat that....plus i drink tons of H20 which helps as well....

ya know the doc said i must have weakened the area over time which i think from my days of working on boats i always leaned on that area and used to lift all kinds of stuff and the final nail in the coffin was a major stomach virus a few weeks back where i was puking my guts out for 2 days....he says the pressure from barfing probably finally blew it out....

    Thanks Denz....

yeah well that was what my doc told me...he said dont do it and you will be back here in 6 months with what you do for a living begging me to do it....i will let you know in a few days about the pain....LOL.....

Get well soon man. Those really suck. Gotta take good care of yourself. Over the years, my dad has had the same one fixed 3 times already because he doesn't take care of himself.

I had my in my groin, so I couldn't watch anything funny on TV since it literally would bust the stitches.

Blew a gasket huh? Good to hear you're all fixed and buttoned back up. Take it easy and do a little online shopping to get this economy rolling. Being stuck at home recovering from surgery is no excuse! ;)

Glad to hear your doing better, being sick or being out of commission for that matter is never fun but one way or another we all get through it.

Glad to hear things went well :thumb:

I've never had hernia surgery, but I'll tell you one thing that ive seen over the years is this. Everybody heals differently and recover from surgery way differently. I think what youre going through is normal. Maybe you would do better with Mepergan (demerol and phenergan). The phenergan would help with the n/v/d. It wouldnt be a bad idea to call or go by and see him though
Hope you get to feelin better man!!!
