    Hey guys,

Like the topic says, with Digital SLRs becoming more accessible and cheaper, I think it's time I move over from my cheapy Kodak digital camera (that I found on the ground btw), I want a good Digital SLR that's very affordable (the lower the better), very easy to use (I don't have a lot of time to do a lot of adjusting, reading, and replacing lenses) and will take the best quality pictures of:

    - Swirls,
    - Scratches
    - Wax
    - Shine

    - In sun, snow, rain or not.

I need these pictures for my website which I'm working on, and the better the pictures, the better it bodes for my business ventures. Thanks in advanced guys, and I look forward to what are always great responses.

Check out the Canon Rebel XS or XSi, Nikon D40 or Nikon D60. I just bought a XSi but havent had it but a few weeks. Make sure you get a good lens with it.

If you want budget, pick up a used Canon XTi. You can have one for a song.

would a macro lens be useful? something like a 50mm which isn't that expensive for a piece of glass at all

Macro would be great for closeups. but don't bother with a 50mm.. you'd have to get up REAL close to get a true macro.. try and find something in the 100mm range.

I would recommend a Sony A200. I have one, and I believe it outperforms the Nikon and Canon competitors, and is less expensive. THe new one I believe is the A320, about 7 months ago I paid $550 for the a200 with 18-70mm lense. Well worth it...

Psst, take a look at Pentax. I know everybody is on the C or N bandwagon, but there are other choices out there.

I agree that Pentax is also a good camera as well!

The Nikon D40 +18-55mm lens kit was priced at $350 after coupons at Staples.com today. Website now shows that it is OOS, but with Staples, they sometimes have more product during the week.
