Hey guys, not sure how many of you in California are aware of this, but today and tomorrow Friday, thousands of teachers in California will be receiving pink slips. I'm a former elementary school teacher myself and my wife is also a teacher. We also have many friends who are teachers. Tomorrow, people will be wearing pink to show support for teachers and for our kids' education. I can't believe that our government is spending billions of dollars to bail out wealthy bankers, yet they are cutting education and letting go of teachers. I am sure this will be happening in other states as well. If you are not threatened by wearing a little pink, please do so tomorrow and show your support for teachers and to support our kids and their education. Remember, IF YOU CAN READ THIS FORUM, THANK A TEACHER. :worship2:
Well I really can't wear a pink shirt to work, but I thank everyone who does. Sister lost her job at a local school after being there for 12 years.
Should do something all the way around in regards to education, as much as i sympathize for anyone getting a pink slip, i feel equally as distressed about spiraling property taxes.
Im not afraid to admit i own pink shirts...i will definitely wear one tomorrow because teachers are our nation's foundations, and they get pissed on everyday and it is sickening...thanks to all of them
That is so sad. Like up here, the gov't is spending billions on the Olympics for two weeks while we have people dying on waiting lists for surgeries. Killing all the politicians may not be the answer, but its a good start!!
Wow really, what a shame. I'm sure I got a pink shirt some where, if I find it I'll be more then happy to wear it. I didn't know this, thank you for bringing this up.
Are the pink slips do to lack of funding or lack of kids in school? Where I live they are shutting down schools. But the reason is our economy is so bad people are leaving to other states. Also we have a lot of private and charter schools now so public school enrollment is down.
It is due to billions of dollars in cuts to education. Definitely not due to lack of enrollment, if anything so many of our schools are overcrowded.
Yea, I don't get it...why not help what will shape the future of all nations, education and it's inhabitants...just my opinion though :shead:
