Saw a white STI in person today...it's the only color that the taillights look good on. Why you can't test drive one is ridiculous.

The new STIs look like shit IMO, and after that issue with the dealer I would absolutely rule it out.

I am not into hatches at all, so I wouldn't pick the VW.

The Mini is way too girly IMO, I wouldn't be caught dead in that.

That leaves the Bimmer, the 3.0 is an awesome engine and with the ZHP I'm sure it would perform extremely well.

However, the trunk area on all of those cars is probably pretty lacking, I don't think you would be able to carry detail supplies in there. In addition, I dunno how I would feel about my detailer pulling up in a BMW sedan.

Just my $0.02, it's your car, you can get whatever you like, I'm sure there are plenty of other great options other than the 4 listed too.

yeah you're pretty much right on most of the counts as ugly as the subie is I still like it.

apparently the subie dealers are always bombarded with tire kickers on the sti so they don't let people test drive them....oh well anyway I'm scheduled to drive one tomorrow sometime.

if I do purchase it or not I will be calling Subie NA to just let them know.

The subie will fit all my detailing needs and as a daily it will be fun to drive....

as for the mini yes as great as it is its a bit on the small side and the vw since I had the mark v gti already it won't make that much sense.

anyway I'll keep you posted guys. thanks!

Yeah, it's pretty ridiculous that they wouldn't let you test drive it Phil. It's too bad you weren't waving the money right in front of their face, LoL.

Mitsu dealers are the same way about the evo, but if you show them you are serious most of them will let you take it around the block

NO offense, Phil, but Subaru is as ugly as a drunk devil. Maybe because I'm drunk. But seriously. If you are looking for a Japanese car, I'd rather look in Honda/Toyota/Nissan/Mazda range.
To me, Subaru is like Saturn. Not the kind of car I want to own. Even if I get it cheap.

Subaru all day, I've got one, and I want another one, I didn't know how great they were, specially when you tune them, mines off the road at the moment, and Im getting severe withdrawal symptoms, every time I sit in my scooby, I remember how much I miss it.

But mine is a 2001 Classic shape, the new ones are even better!!

as ugly as they might be I'm really liking the way they drive. I drove one around a bit today and its balanced well and stock its got great power.

hey paul would you do rally blue or gray?

i like the rally blue but I'm old now no need for the attention....

Not trying to solo you out, but you've said that you don't like them already. You don't have to take it so far saying its one of the ugliest cars out there. I know people have different opinions but you don't need to take it so far. Just sayin
I like the gray, it looks a lot more mature then rally blue. Plus, rally blue is so common!

rally blue however is the signature color....that's why I like it
but gray is very nice and stealth

Grey...more "sleeper" and less attn (read: po-po) grabbing.

I think either color is win-win Phil. However, grey will maintain a lower profile.
