Hi, I'm fairly new to the whole detailing scene....but I do have the "OCD'ness" to love it! Well just wondering for a daily driven car, would the NXT wax suffice? Thanks in advance for any help!
Hi, star1maker. My son asked me a few monthw ago to propose to him a wash and wax regimen for his daily driver. Here is what I came up with for him. Perhaps you will find it useful: Microfiber towels (more the merrier) Waffle-weave microfiber drying towel Tire/wheel brush 2 foam or microfiber applicators Meguiar's clay bar kit Cleaner Wax or ColorX NXT Generation Tech Wax Every one or two weeks: 1) Wash your car using the two bucket method: How to Wash Your Car Show Car Style Dry with your waffle-weave towel. Every two months: 2) Inspect paint surface. Gently run your hand over the surface. Is it smooth as glass? Do you feel bumps and rough spots? If you do, you need to clay your car: How to Claybar Your Car Typically, you will only need to clay your car twice a year. 3) Apply a coat of Cleaner Wax or ColorX. Massage it into the paint. You are working it into the paint in order to clean the paint and remove oxidization and previous layers of wax. Allow to haze and wipe off. Wait 15-30 minutes. 4) Apply a thin coat of NXT. Allow to haze and wipe off. If you wish (this is purely optional), you may apply a second coat of your LSP (last step product), optimally waiting 12 hours between coats. The products I have listed above are readily available from local auto stores. Substitute your preferred products for the ones I have cited. The important thing is to adopt a regular regimen and stick to it. Hope this helps. Keep it simple and keep it fun! Cheers, Al
I was asked about four months ago to apply some NXT ( the liquid ) to a clients car. After washing and claying I applied 2 coats, 1 hour apart. It went on and came off very easy. Quite similar to Menz FMJ. Well last week he was in for just a wash and vac and the water was sheeting off his car like crazy. The car is garage kept, but impressive durability nonetheless.
i would give it a 6... the durability of a sealant + carnuba is better, assuming you use a booster detailer... the nxt 20 still hasnt shown me much improvement over durability, but the looks are better... EDIT: and i add this, if you need wax in a hurry, you wont be wasting your money...
Am I the only one that dislikes this product? I used it on our black and dark blue daily drivers last summer. Shiny yes, but imo that's not the way dark colours should look, zero warmth. I could only stand it on the black for two weeks before I had to take it off. I let it go on the dark blue and it was pretty much finished after 4 weeks. I'm far from a Megs hater, a few of their products are the very first I reach for, some are excellent, top of the line. But NXT 2 is not one of them, I just very much dislike this sealant.
Based on my experience I would rate it highly. I am far from being a Megs fan, but it is what it is. Very easy to use and decent durability. Even if it only lasted 2 months, you could apply and remove this sealant to a mid sized car in an hour easily which makes it convenient. It is quite shiny as stated so not the best for dark colours, but if you own silver or white, have at it. :thumb:
All subjective, some swear by it, some swear at it. I liked the way it went on and came off, which is a nice feature, as far as looks and durability, its not bad. I'm sort of like some others, Megs makes some excellent products, some i use ( Gold Class Soap ) and the other products i use are dependent on the job.
I have a bottle left over and a totally new much better wax for my car. What do you guys think about using the nxt2.0 on wheels as a protectant?
awesome sounds good. I couldnt find myself to ditch it as many have said to do and move on to a better wax (which that I did though). The smell alone held me close : )
esp sometimes if you can find it in special combo packs! but ive only seen it in liquid when its in the combo packs. but the packs are usually priced "cheap" costing a few dollars more than the nxt itself.
