I've seen this before and regrettably it's not good news. What left that behind is some sort of machine (rotary or DA) and the individual that used the machine used a pad (foam or wool) that had some sort of contaminant (could be dirt, small pebble, I've even seen metal shavings) and polished the area and what your picture shows are the results of such a polishing job.

The vehicle I saw this done too was at a body shop, the person polishing the vehicle dropped the wool pad on the floor picked it up put it on the rotary (Dewalt) and went to "work" on the vehicle at the end the vehicle looked exactly like your picture.

Regrettably, the scratches are quite deep, through the clear coat so even if you wet sand you wont be able to remove all the deep scratches completely...but it will make them less noticeable.

Well because they are so deep the only way to completely remove all those circle like scratches is to repaint the area.

Like I said you can try to wet sand the are...but you should be careful as to not to remove too much clear, who knows how much clear you have to play with either so if you don't have a paint gauge just be careful. Now wet sanding the area wont completely remove them but it will reduce them a bit.

that mark is from an EGG that was thrown at the car.....i have seen this many times before.....when an egg hits the paint the egg crushes and the sharp pieces of shell put that small circular set of chips in the car.....like snowflakes....no two are alike.....unfortunetly most of the time they are quite deep....

try a sand and polish but dont sand too deep....

It looks like an egg was thrown at the car. One of the most frustrating things to happen to your paint as there isn't much you can do about it.

i concur (hehe i feel like a doctor now) My friends RX-8 had the same marks on it. sadly it was all the wat down to the primer so all we could do was get soem touch up paint and clearcoat. it turned out OK but you could still see it at the right angle. it sucks that there are a-holes out there that would do this to a car. hope everything turns out okay! hopefully you'll have a better time getting atouch up paint than i have! white diamond pearl for my supra has been discontinued by toyota... curses.
