Went to Carquest to pick up some DG111, and they only had one on the shelf. It has been there forever. I asked if they had a newer bottle, because I was pretty sure this one is no longer good. They said they would order a new one in, and asked if I wanted the one on the shelf. I obliged, because, I thought it would be kinda cool to have the old bottle/packaging. Check it out!
Oh I'm not going to use it. Just got off the phone with DG. The bottle is from one of their first production runs of DG 111. The tip for the guy on the phone was the "Light" in "Duragloss Light" on the box. Also, because it's a 2 piece box, dates it about 20 years old :yikes: He told me it's a collector's item! He has one in their conference room on display, kind of a "progression from where they started to where they are now" display. Oh, and even though I told I didn't pay anything for this one, he is still sending me a new bottle of 111. What a great guy to talk to!
Thats a great find....I found some old stuff at a parts store near me..the wheel cleaner and aluminum cleaner...but yours is a great find.... Jerry is a cool guy to talk to....just loves to talk....Nice people at DG...pretty laid back people.. take care of that.... Al
All the stuff in the car quest here is covered in dust! They are a few dollars more than any other place in town, so I guess no one shops there anymore. I only go to pick up sandpaper and applicator pads.
I've talked to several guys at Carquest and in many stores. Not a one of them have used 111 or 101 and new nothing about it.
What is nice tho, I can get any Duragloss product from my Carquest in 1 day, even if its not on the shelf. If you want a DG product and its not on the shelf, ask them them to get it for you , thats what I do and the next day its there.
I figured you would all like to see them! It's the lone sealant in my wooden carnauba case. My other 2 sealants are on the shelf with my cleaners/polishes, but all my waxes I keep in a cooler location in my house. I just don't want it to fall off the shelf into a bucket of ONR or something. I could see that happening.
