Should my exhaust get this hot on the quad?

is it new? fuel injected or carb'd? new exhaust?

 

Yes, its about 3months old, done about 1600 miles on it so far. Fuel injected with a monster exhaust, air filter, power commander and de-stricted. Its a 700cc Yamaha Raptor.

where do you use it?

 

On and off road.

 

Hmm, maybe it's because it's unrestricted?

 

can you guys go off to some off road without getting in trouble with authority?

 

Depends on where you go, I have a friend who has a big field that I can hack round at 60mph + I will have to take the HD cam with me next time I go up there, the quad is mental flat out.

 

very nice, a friend of mine has a Raptor. these 4wheelers/quads are very fun!!!

 

It's not restricted at all, when something is running lean, it makes the exhaust get real hot like yours.

 

When exhaust is causing heat like that to a pipe..you know your exhaust valves are hot also...I would be careful as to not over cook the valves...

I run my quad hard and never heat the pipes like that....you may have to have the engine remapped if you did exhaust mods to it....it looks way to lean..

All thats been done, remapping, apparently the 700cc Raptors get red hot even on standard exhaust.
